Postulate for a second/ there’s no source of evil
Just outcomes/ of bad choices from bad people
No Satan trying to deceive you/ no fire and brimstone
No god up in the sky/ pushing Stockholm syndrome
Religion’s a symptom/ of ignorance, lack of sciences
For the unexplainable/ they invented appliances
But so much violence is/ done in the name of faith
I see why they needed it then/ but it’s time it was replaced
So much/ effort we waste/ on mental archeology
That could be used on/ society or technology
You owe an apology/ if you proselytized
But still I’m not blaming you/ if you got lost in the lies
It’s not easy to toss it aside/ I’m sure it has to be arduous
But it’s necessary to see/ just how marvelous
The world is/ it’s a part of us/ feel the catharsis
As Mr. Sagan said/ we are made of star stuff

Too many entities/ are enemies/ to our betterment
Your life may have storms/ but it’s you/ that can weather it
No supernatural impediments/ no spiritual crutches
Not in the hands of cherubim/ nor in a demon’s clutches
As much as/ it may comfort you/ or set your mind at ease
Think of how it must feel/ when you’re finally free
